California School Superintendent Edgar Lampkin
Dr. Edgar Lampkin became the superintendent of a California school district in 2016. In this position, he was tasked with supporting educators and faculty while ensuring that a K-12 student body was being properly prepared for successful careers and higher education. His success was having students achieving the highest education rate in his county and becoming one of the first comprehensive Early College High Schools in northern California. He previously spent time as director of English Learner Services and Instructional Services for students from prekindergarten through 12th grade with the Yolo County Office of Education offering high caliber professional development, parent engagement trainings, curriculum development, and technical support to districts on compliance monitoring and leadership supports. Prior to being a director, he was a principal in school districts throughout Salinas, California. As a ten-year principal, Edgar Lampkin successfully presided over three school reform initiatives successfully!
As a member of professional organizations like the Small School Districts’ Association (SSDA), Association of CA School Administrators (ACSA), and California Association of Latino/a Superintendents & Administrators (CALSA), Dr. Edgar Lampkin has participated in and conducted professional development training and webinars around Equity, Diversity, Cultural Proficiency, Education for Social Justice and Superintendent Academies. His Education Doctorate in International Multicultural Education out of the University of San Francisco (2005) and Masters in Educational Administration (1994) from the California State University of Sacramento have provided him the education and experience in these educational topics. His Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with an emphasis on bilingual studies and a Bilingual-Cross Cultural teacher credential from the California State University of Chico was achieved in 1986, resulting in him becoming an accomplished and highly sought Bilingual Education Master Teacher for the CSU Sacramento Teacher Training program. It is this 38 years of education and experience that make him an experienced and sought Superintendent and educational consultant for Leadership in Education.
